Since March of 1999, the Rotary Club of Tulsa has awarded $422,950 to outstanding music students through the International Crescendo Music Awards competition.
Students from 48 high schools and 75 colleges or universities from 23 states have accepted the annual opportunities to compete with their peers in the disciplines of piano, voice, winds and strings. A number of contenders have been international students studying in the States.
Beginning with 11 contestants, competing for $1,500 in cash prizes the first year, a total of 883 students have auditioned with the program as it has grown to international status.
The 16th annual competition will take place March 20–22, 2014, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a Gold Medal prize of $10,000 to be awarded in each of two divisions, Voice and Piano, on the college level.
Additional cash prizes will be awarded in the high school level competition in two divisions, Strings and Brass & Woodwinds.
